FIFTEEN-year success story, the North Vancouver Folkfest is once again offering three days of free internationally flavored enter- tainment highlighted by the Lions Club parade. North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre is the place to be June 24-26, with each of the three even- ings jammed with programs of singing and dance. Folkfest chairman and longtime supporter North Vancouver Ald. Stella Jo Dean explains that these free offerings contribute to inter- national understanding by pro- viding an opportunity to appreci- ate the cultures of many lands. The holiday gets off to a grand Start, at 10:30 Saturday morning with the North Vancouver Lions Club Parade. Prior to that, early birds can en- joy an 8 a.m. pancake breakfast at 14th Street and Lonsdale, where they will be entertained by musi- cians. Decorated bikes will be judged on originality, color and creativity at 9:30 a.m. at Victoria Park. For information about the Bike Dec- orating Contest, contact Paul Hasler at 980-5809. Entries are also welcomed to the parade, which will leave Victoria Park, rain or shine, at 10:30 a.m. and proceed by Lonsdale Avenue - to the recreation centre.
