Al ‘Wilson notched the Rockets’ first goal midway through the first period from Jim Bohr and Brian Chatfield. Then, two minutes before the period ended, Ernie Kostner fired home a pass from Brace Mulberry to give the Rockets a 2-0 lead. Roger Collins finally got one past Smith at the 17:00 minute mark of the second peiod, scoring on the power play with a low slap shot from the point. But less than a- minute later the Rockets regaine° their three goal lead with Pierre Zell stealing the puck at the North Van blue line and feeding a perfect pass to Mark Piro to make it 4-1 for West Van going into the third period. The Rockets carried the. play from the opening face-off and had taken an early lead in the game with Ernie Kostner converting Brian Chatfield’s pass at 1:41 for the Rockets’ first goal.
