wife equals the income of one
family. And if that family
income totals $18,000 or less,
the mother, or in some cases

claim the $200 credit for each
eligible child.

The child tax credit, which
individuals can claim when
they file their tax returns this
year, is intended to supple-
ment family allowance pay-
ments, and as such depends
on the total family income
involved.

For married couples who
were living together on
December 31 of last year,

both husband and wife. If
either one had no income, or
if either one incurred an

claiming the credit would
