N. Van students get inside look at Scrooge production STUDENTS AT North Van- couver’s Queensbury Elementary School recently received a lesson in Dickens under a project pioneered by the Carousel Theatre Company. In preparation for the Carousel Theatre’s production Scrooge, based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, a theatre artist came into the classroom for a workshop revealing the mysteries of plot, characters, and theme development. Then, after the class saw the play, theatre artists returned to the classroom to assist students in another workshop to elicit spoken and written responses. “We would like to do this with Watercolors exhibited DEEP COVE artist Ross Munro will be showing a host of recent watercolor works at La Raffinage on Georgia Street in Vancouver until the end of the month. Describing himself as self- taught, Munro has painted in various media for more than 20 years, but has worked exclusively in watercolor for the past 10 years. “His watercolors show a delicate touch,’’ said agent Sharmon Munro. ‘‘His love of the environ- ment comes across (in) understan- ding of color and line.” Tsing broad washes and lively brush strokes, Munro creates land- scapes that are simple yet convey the scene with a powerful majesty capturing light and mood. Working now in his Deep Cove home, Munro has painted works that have graced art galleries in Ottawa and Vancouver and private anid corporate collections. La Raffinage is located at 501 West Georgia St. For more details: 929-8030.
