BC Rail’s inspired combination of
scenic rail travel and haute cuisine is set
to steam into its third season today
(May 5).

The first dinner train is scheduled to
pull out of the North Vancouver station
at 6:15 p.m. and will ply its Howe
Sound rail run nighdly until Oct. 3.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday night din-
ner trains will then run until Oct. 24.

The Pacific Starlight’s rolling stock of
vintage art deco railcars will continue to
feature upscale cuisine, hor jazz, big
band swing and Howe Sound panora-
mas. Starlight menus this year will fea-
ture such entrees as Guinea Fowl, Sea
Bass, Vegetarian Ravioli, Cornish Game
Hen and Beef Tenderloin.

Over the past two years BC Rail’s
dinner train has hauled close to 60,000
passengers and generated over $5 mil-
lion. Impressive dinner freight numbers
by any measure. The train, which has
seating capacity for 400, departs nightly
at 6:15 p.m. The trip takes abour four
hours — a nourishing and unique West
Coast adventure for locals and tourists
alike.

Per passenger dinner fares are $82.95
for salon car and $99.95 for dome car
service.
