IT WAS guite a gala gala do
at the after-party for
singer/dancer Shirley
MacLaine at Rosemary
Keevil’s elegant British
Properties’ home last week
following Shirley’s sold-out
concert at the Queen
Elizabeth Theatre.

MacLaine really wowed her
audience with her enthusiasm,
energy and wit and was repayed
with several standing ovations.

Some of those in attendance at
the late-night West Vancouver
soiree were the delightful trio of
Jackie Houston, Juliette and
Margaret Ashley, the forest
world’s Peter Bentley, Ballet
B.C.’s Don Shumka, David and
Pamela Richardson, and Taylore
Fox, who last entertained actor
Anthony Quinn and his wife,
Yolande

Also spotted were Alex and
Grace Macdonald, hair stylist
Richard Jeha, socialite Lois
Miisom and her steady escort.
architect Arthur Erickson, and
Ballet B.C.°s artistic director John
Alleyne.

The euphoric Julie Burke was
on hand to meet her idol and to
oversee the dining operations for
the party of her Everything Done
Right catering company with mar-
tinis, the popular cocktail of
choice. The entire affair was a
benefit for Ballet B.C. and they
hope to realize some $6,000 from
it...

It couldn't have been a happier
: birthday party for petite Wendy
Lisogar-Cocchia than the surprise
celebration hosted by her husband
Sergio at their mansion in
Canterbury in the upper Properties
on Sunday afternoon.

Shirley conjures up

Wendy's mother Lorrie took
her out for brunch so that when
the birthday virl returned home,
all her VIP guests were waiting
out front, Wendy was so embuar-
rassed that she blushed a bright
red all over.

Besides Mummy's best girl,
curly-haired two-year-old Connie,
the Cocchia’s have expanded their
family to included a ferocious
watchdog, a fluffy young pup
named Leo.

There was CBC-TV' s national
weatherman Phil Reimer along
with news anchor Gloria
Macarenko, her husband Enrigue
and their little son Julian having a
great tussle with the puppy.
U.TV"'s weatherman Mark
Driesschen and his expectant
Amanda arc happily infanticipat-
ing their first heir or heiress to the
family fortune come early
January.

Others on hand to join in a cho-
rus of “Happy 30th Wendy” were

Mel was still on a high
because. for the first time in his
long golfing career, Mel hit a
hole-in-one on the 16th hole
which is a par three with a drive
of some 205 yards at the exclusive
Capilano Golf Club. He was golf-
ing with his pals Al Trammell,
clothier Terry Sklavenitis of
Giorgio’s and moneyman Nick
DeCotiis.

Nick and his wife Angela were
also at the Dirthday party along
with Evelyn and Dorothy
Decotiis and Mandeville gardens’

into the Ukrainian Hall of Fame, a
ceremony held annually at the
Ukrainian National Festival in
Dauphin, Manitoba.

This award is given to citizens
who contribute to the improve-
ment of Ukrainian culture and her-
itage in Canada.
