Support veterans by buying poppy POPPIES WILL be springing up on the streets when the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 118, assisted by Unit 45 Army Navy and Air Forces Veterans of Canada, sell these symbols of remembrance of past wars. The support of the public who purchase the poppies goes to aid needy veterans and their dependents. ‘‘The work of the Legion is continuous,”’ said service officer Valerie Campbell, ‘‘We are able, with your support, to purchase medical equipment, repair a veteran’s house, or supply a food voucher to help a needy family over a difficult financial time. ‘Funds collected on the North Shore are used here and so it is a case of neighbor helping neighbor,’’ said Campbell. The poppy campaign, which will run Nov. 2, 3 and 4, is a strictly vol- unteer effort; afl ronies collected are placed in a trust fund and used to aid veterans. Poppies will be on sale on the streets, in the malls and at Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus station. Ladies Auxiliary members wil! be calling on stores and businesses, re- questing that they display a Remembrance wreath in their windows and make a donation to the fund. Pum- pkins glowed on front porches courtesy of Crest Realty and it's Sales Associates. Over 15,000 pumpkins were delivered in tctal! The volunteers who participated in the distribution of these ‘Golden Globes” raised money for their pet projects, a class trip to Quebec, new rugby uniforms, the graduation party etc., and we were glad to have the opportunity to contribute to these worthy causes and further develop the community spirit for which the North Shore is famous! If we missed you this year, let us know and we'll catch you next year. “LET CREST HELP YOU HAUNT A NEW HOUSE TODAY” HAPPY HALLOWEEN The Sales Associates, Staff, .
