Keeping abreast of the ongo- ing developments is a must for companies looking to move ahead into the 80s. It is in this vein that BCAA and ICBC sponsored the Se- cond Annual Speciality Towing and Recovery Seminar held in Burnaby May 25-26. Trevor Pierce, Barry Hor- ton and Bruce Pellerin of Payless Towing, North Van- couver were among the over 85 participants from across British Columbia who at- tended the two-day seminar. “Meeting together with a large number of towing firms enables contractors to ex- change important ideas relating to their industry,” says BCAA’s”) seminar organizer Murray Toms. Contractors learned tech- niques for towing vehicles with plasuc bumpers and unitbody construction, as well as improved ways to handle conventionally manufactured vehicles. ICBC's review officer in the material damage depart- ment, Larry Kenmare, led a session on towing unitbody vehicles such as the X-, J- and K- cars. “By understanding the construction of these new vehicles we can _ recover them without adding to the damage inflicted by the acci- dent, a vital factor in keep- img down consumer costs,” he said. The most sophisticated equipment in North America was brought in for the seminar, which was divided into two basic areas: inclass learning and hands-on tow- ing and recovery HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS Eagles sweep IT ONLY took the Carson Graham Eagles two games to win the semor high school girls softball championship. even though rain forced the semes to last almost a week.
