Families in the 400 block East 29th. were evacuated and the RCMP cordoned off the area as fire fighters hosed down the truck with foam and righted the can- nisters that had spilled all over the street. “They were lucky, they were really lucky,” an RCMP spokesman said, referring to the fact that everybody involved in the incident escaped injury. Three men were arrested Saturday in a Vancouver Hotel and charges of armed robbery were laid as a result of various holdups in the Vancouver area, as well as the West Vancouver rob- bery The arrests were the result of a joint” investigation . between Vancouver and West Vancouver police forces, which led detectives to a room in the Century Plaza Hotel. on Burrard Street About $7,000 cash was recovered and though police say they feel confident it ts money stolen from banks they have no way of telling whether any of it was from the West Van holdup. Oswald has been charged with armed robbery and with using a firearm during the commission of an offence. He was due to appear in provincial court in West Vancouver yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. West Van Police are laying no charges against Charpentier or Brown at this 28, all of time, pending further in vestigation.
