Naturally, there were plenty of skiers in the tent and, also natural- ly, the Swiss team was the most organized — they held autograph-signing sessions and distributed pre-signed posters. There were rumors of political ‘game-playing — apparently, as late as Friday, the Swiss and Austrians were threaiening to pull out of the race because the course was too fast. Wussy boys. (I'm told that this is actually a tactic used to keep the Canadians on edge and at bay.— they see our guys as a threat.) On the social side, there were a zillion small parties and all of the nightclubs had top bands, most notably Toronto's fantabulous Blue Rodeo. At the Blue Rodeo concert, | spotted Rob Boyd partying with Whistler Race director Peter “YP Young; North Vanners Glen Ringdahl and Sam Lenar- duzzi enjoying themselves; and - prominent criminal lawyer Martin Thompson not enjoying himself — he left early.
