Mayor Mark Sager announced
at a recent meeting of West
Vancouver District Council that the
West Vancouver Foundation has
contributed $6,000 to the fire
department towards the purchase of
an automatic external defibrilator.

Later. he'’said that the West
Vancotver firefighters’ union is
contributing. a similar sum for a

“second defibrilator, “We would like

to have ane in each of the four fire
halls.” Sager said.

AL the council meeting, Sager
pointed out that the fire department
is now providing first response to
emergency calls,

in the past, that responsibility
has rested with the provincially
funded ambulance service. But
