Opera holds auditions

SINGERS, DANCERS and actors
are welcome to audition for the
North Shore Light Opera Society’s
1991 production of the musical
Rose Marie.

Auditions will be held Sept. 16,
18 and 23.

With Rose Marie, the society is
departing slightly from its usual
light opera, offering audiences
something different with this

American look at Canadian
culture through the eyes of Oscar
Hammerstein and Otto Harbach.

The production opens in
March/April with performances
on the North Shore and Rich-
mond.

Delbrook Community Centre.

Weight traming offered

THE WEST Vancouver YMCA is
offering an innovative new weight
training program for those who
are recovering from an injury, in-
dividuals with osteoporosis who
have been encouraged to learn
weight bearing exercises, and for
those who have never worked with
weights before.

Jennifer McMahon,

the Y’s

weight training instructor, will
design individual programs for
each participant according to their
needs.

The program runs for 5 weeks
starting Oct. 1, but due to the
personalized feature of this pro-
gram, pre-registration by Sept. 21
is required. For more information,
