Street kids to get more assistance MINISTER OF Social Services and Housing, Claude Richmond, recently announced details of a new program to expand and coor- dinate services to street kids in Vancouver and Victoria. The first phase of the new pro- gram has already begun in Van- couver and Victoria. When a young person is iden- tified as a ‘street kid’ and at risk, he or she can be referred to the program by a variety of sources including the police, probation of- ficers and other street workers. Program staff will work with the young person to assess what ser- vices he or she needs and how they can be provided.
