the same time. All members
are eating their vegetables.

SYDNEY, Australia (UPI)
- Two Canadian adventurers
arrived in Australia Tuesday
on the Lith day of a 77-day
car trip that will take them
through 23 countries around
the world.

Driver Garry Sowerby, 29,
and navigator Ken Langley.
29, left Toronto Sept. 6 and
after driving across Canada
boarded a plane in San
Francisco for Sydney.

“We have done a lot of
research for our drive across
the Australian outback,”
Langley said. “We leave
Sydney for Brisbane on
Thursday morning. Then we
expect to drive at least 400
miles per day and hope to
make Perth in 10 days.”
Earlier, Langley said he
expected Australia to be the
toughest part of the trip.
From Perth the car will be
airlifted to Bombay, India
for the trip across Asia and
Europe.
The pair plan to return to
Canada on Nov. 21. after

I think what he was trying
to say is that he loves us.

We've bought and paid for
Wardair’s flight in
December. Saved ourselves
something like $800 by going
early in the month. I picked
an ad. out of the newspaper
and found a condo for $42 a
day — one bedroom, ground
floor — right beside the
pool. The beach such as it is,
is right beside us with no
road between. There is a
kitchen with ao dishwasher.
Who cares? I'm stopping at
the first shopping center and
buying a large stack of paper
plates, cups and plastic
cutlery. It’s not that the kids
won't wash dishes but I get
heartily sick of the
arguments about whose turn
it is.

to be in Hawaii.”

I agree. Just look for me
under a palm tree with a
straw hat and my typewriter.

cats roam from lap to lap,
begging bites of cheese.

Neighbors drop in and we
drop back. Will sausage rolls
taste the same in the tropics?
Will a turkey dinner seem
ridiculous by the beach? It’s
going to seem _ strange
hanging stockings on a lanai
instead of a fireplace.

But home is where your
family is. And if my family is
going to be in Hawaii on
December 25, that’s where
I'll be — dishing out stuffed
bird, sausage rolls and plum
pudding. Maybe Ill take
along a string of lights to
