On Wednesday, Feb. 4 the public will have an opportunity to learn more about the latest research into arthritis when rheumatologist Dr. David O’Hanlon speaks at a meeting of the North Shore branch of the Ar- thritis Society. The meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. at St. Catherines Anglican Church, 1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver. LeBlond, the local branch's program coordinator, said the group is hoping to attract as many people as possible to the meeting. At the group's last public meeting more than 350 people at- tended, LeBlond said this high number proves there is an interest in the community and a need for an arthritis support group. “For people who don't know much about arthritis, the support group is really beneficial,’ she said. “Tt helps to talk about it...so you don't feel alone or feel you're the only one who's suffering."' Besides organizing public events to raise awareness of the disease, the S50 members of the Arthritis Society are active in fund raising.
