14 - Sunday. February 8, 1987 - North Shore News Fashion _ mit pullover is hot THIS WEEK’S easy to knit pullover is made with one of the season’s hottest selling new yarns, ‘‘Intrigue’’ from Pingouin. ; The wool, mohair, acrylic yarn has a shag effect that has been very popular with the home knitter for several seasons. The rich coloring is one of its attractive features. I've teamed it with Scheepjes Prima Mohair, a very soft mohair combination. The yarn is used double to equal the tension of the Intrigue. The centre panels are knitted sideways and the side and sleeve panels are knitted horizontally and sewn to centre panels upon com- pletion. The up 2nd down stripe of the centre panel gives a slimming effect. knit 1 purl 2 by Fieather Wanless Both. y>rns are available at Trisha’s, European Knitting and Yarns by Heather. Oid friends can't believe how she's changed. Before, because of major back surgery, she had been unable to exercise, on doctor's orders. So her figure had grown matronly, and she dressed —— and acted — accordingly. Then her physio- therapist stepped in, prescribed something new. Now Joan is a perfect 10, tooks and feels marvelous. “lost 14 pounds and 42 inches in two months LYING DOWN with no possibility of hurting my back, and | can’t thank my _ physio- therapist enough,” Joan says, preening a little because she knows she looks nifty in her new straight-skirted suit. Francine James has been out buying new clothes too. Her old size 16 wardrobe doesn't fit her new size 12 figure, and a figure that Francine once thought she'd never have. She'd spent most of her life los- ing and gaining back the same 40 pounds starving herself on diets groaning to exhaustion in fitness classes. “t hated every minute of it, so after the class I'd go home and raid the fridge to compensate.” Then, like Joan, she discovered through a friend, FIGURE DYNAMICS, met owner/manager Joanne Mowait, and found there was a much easier way to shape up. wise. Cast off must stretch as much as ribbing. Sew remaining underarm seam. Then the appropriate treatment is prescribed, whether intended to induce weight loss, inch reduc- tion, cellulite breakdown, treat- ment of circulatory problems and any combination needed to ac- complish the maximum benefit for each individual client. Besides women like Joan and Francine who have had no lasting success until they discovered Figure Dynamics, Joanne Mowatt also numbers professional! athletes among her clientele. They come to her for muscle condition- ing treatments. One well-known figure skater came to Joanne for help in reducing the size of her thighs. Originally developed to be us- ed for physio-therapy, this equip- ment has been modified to be us- ed in the health and beauty field. This method is safe and effective “The changes in my thighs actually changed my wardrobe. | used to wear baggy clothes for camouflage. | could never have reshaped my thighs with diet alone. | used to fluctuate 5 pounds over a weekend and it could never make this much difference. Now | wear knit dresses and tailored pants.” Figure Dynamics is the miraculous technique first in- troduced to Canada by Barbara Valente at her Sylph Salons in 1978. Joanne Mowatt trained and worked with Mrs. Valente and is now the only practising certified cellu-technician in Canada. Using the same equipment and programs perfected by Mrs. Valente, Joanne is able to shape, tone and contour bodies with fast and almost effortless results. Hips, thighs, stomachs, bustlines, arms and chins can all be toned, tightened and restored to firm youthful attractiveness with her professional methods.
