B2-Wednesday, September 10, 1980 - North Shore News Six games before season opener The leaves have barely started changing colours but it’s already hockey season once again as the Nor Wes Caps begin their preseason exhibition schedule tonight at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre. The Caps, in their second year with the B.C. Junior Hockey league, host the Jr. B Flames from North Shore Winter Club. The match is the first of six outings before the campaign opener on September 28. Coach Vern Moberg will have his first chance to see how his prospects handle themselves under game conditions after a week of strenuous workouts. He will be assisted by former Caps centre Kirk Wakefield as they try selecting a com- petitive squad. How does Moberg expect his players to perform? Certainly with defence in mind at all times. “I want them to look after their own end,” he comments. “If we can get the puck out of our own end we can win games.” The Caps will be expecting up to a half dozen players DANCING CAN BE a great way to improve fitmess for both adults and children. She has only been teaching in Vancouver for a year and already two of her dancers won several scholarships. Roper is teaching the Russian training method, which is far more demanding than other methods but the results are much greater, more rapid and more ex- citing, Russtan method trained dancers are capable of expressing both the lyncal and bravuro style which gives them a wider range in the dance world.
