A tough NS soccer clin

Jim Easton, the first
Vancouver Whitecap
coach and aéformer
Scottish International
player is organizing a
soccer clinic for kids on
the North Shore this
summer with a dif-
ference.

The popular and well liked
Scot who fives in’ North
Vancouver is aiming for the
11940 vear old) kids who
have the desire and
dedication to work hard and
who want to expand thear
soccer Knowledge

In other words. he wants
to work with the better kids
The kids who have the skills
pretty well established and
who want to po beyond this

point to the strategy and
tactics of the game.

The school will last for
one week for each session, in
the evenings to avoid the
heat of the day for a three
hour stretch, from five to
eight pm five days a weck
at Carson Graham It 1s
being sponsored by the BC
Dairy Foundahon

There will only be 45
students per session and a
total of four sessrons for the
summer ato a cost of $30
Fach student upon the
completion of the intensive
course will receive a ball |
shirt and a certificate from

Easton is one of those
traditionally tough Glaspow

much soccer to the world

He played for a number of
years for  Hibermans of
Fdinburgh and then tor
Dundee ino the Scottish
league

After a two year stint as
player coach with Queen of
the South baston came out
to Miami as a centre back
When the coach became 11)
part way through the vear
Easton helped out and was
all set to Come back the next
year as assistant However
in 1974 a number of new
teams came into existence
Vancouver
Whitecaps, and the quiet

After leaving the Caps
following the 1975S) season,
Easton went to Skyline
Sports where he is still
employed
