Friday, August 21, 1992 - North Shore News - 5 [GOING OUT OF | Pair arrested BUSINESS TWO PEOPLE are scheduled to appenr in West Van- couver provincial court on Aug. 26 after the West Van- couver Police arrested 2 male and a female in connection with a reported theft. A police spokesman said a man had entered the Eaton’s department store in the south mall of the Park Royal Shopping Centre at 11:15 a.m. on Ang. 19. The suspect stole $1,649 worth of women’s clothing and ran out of the store. The items stolen included six women’s navy-blue and five women’s tan Eaton’s London Fog raincoats. Store security guards followed the suspect out of the store and saw him putting the stolen goods into the trunk of a car, which contained a woman driver. The police followed the car to the Lions Gate Bridge, where it got caught in traffic. The pair in the car were then arrested. The seating area would be fronted by a railing to prevent further encroachment onto the sidewalk, which will be reduced to a width of five feet by the incur- sion of the four-foot-deep patio. The Edgemont Village Mer- chants Association supported the application, but Coun. Joan Gadsby suggested that the ap- plication would set a precedent and that the location was not designed for outdoor eating. . “The merchants, who I respect, _ .. want to attract tourists to the village, but my first consideration has to be the local residents,” said Gadsby. ; Coun.
