German automaker BMW asked
Art Centre students to design ab;
to-basies, two-seater sports cir that
would give the driver the same kind
of open-air tveling as driving a
motoreyele.

Instead of using a traditional
method, however, the students us
advanced three-dimensional comput-
er graphics as requested by BMW
executives.

In fact, the young designers creat-
ed their visions using a Canadian
software system called Alias Studio
and StudioPaint (developed by a
Toronto firm Alias).

icant tool and to evaluate whether
creativity would be hampered or
enhanced using this method rather
than the traditional clay modeling
approach,” said Christopher Bangle,

ly-shaped vehicle whose windshield
