Senior Ladies: Lori Tanizawa, sixth. NV runner Walker honored with BC. Athletics award A NORTH Vancouver resident was awarded the Masters Women Road Runner of the Year at the B.C. Athletics Annual awards held Jan. 25. . Bonni Walker competed ijocally in 20 races during 1991 and placed first in the women’s masters catc- gory in 15 of these races. She also placed second three times along with fourth place and seventh place finishes. Walker was one of four masters women selected at the B.C. cross-country championships held last year in Victoria to represent the province in the masters divi- sion. Walker was seiected to rep- resent the province after she com- peted in her first-ever cross- country race. At the Canadian cross-country championships held last November in Halifax, Walker came sixth overall in the masters women’s and second in her age group. . Cross-country competitions in- volve runs over trails and roads for usually five kilometres for women.
