Singers perform THE SCANDALOUS Folk Club has lined up an impressive group of entertainers this month and next. By EVELYN JACOB News Reporter John McLachlan, well-known local singer/ songwriter who runs the folk venue, says the lineup is the strongest one in any one month the club has ever had. “All these performers are top notch in their respective fields,’’ he said. The program begins with Ottawa singer-songwriter Lynr Miles, who will be making her Vancouver debut at the North Vancouver club on Nov. 13 as part of a cross- Canada tour. Miles’ voice has often been compared with singer Suzanne Vega’s ~— a haunting, clear coun- try sound. In the last few years Miles has gained increasing atten- tion as a promising entertainer, working, recording with and open- ing for well-known musicians such as Timbuk 3, Roy Forbes, Ferron, Dan Hill and Air Supply. After Miles’ performance another well-known folk singer — Connie Kaldor — will make an appearance in North Vancouver at Centennial Theatre on Nov. 18. Two days later on Nov. 20, Don Ross, who appeared at this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival, appears at Scandals. Ross recently won first place at the prestigious National Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas, with his folk- based style that embraces jazz and classical forms. The November concert series ends on Nov. 27 with Cuban-born acoustic guitarist lsaac Guillory. Upcoming concerts at the Scan- dalous Folk Club include Murray Evans and the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble. For information phone 926-2663. OFF-ICE action this Fri- @ THANK YOU!
