“Gone Sailing” — directed
and filmed by Karl Begrich
— is a full-color, multiple-
soundtrack motion picture
about the yearning in every
one of us to get away from
‘the nine-to-five routine.

racing,
venturous sailing journeys
into the Gulf Islands of the
Canadian north Pacific; and
it shows the fun and ex-
citement that comes from
the skill of sailing.

But the desperate search
for the perfect sail is the
highlight of the film. A
landlubber turned sailor has
a dream many of us share.
He wants to be part of a Tall
Ship Celebration and sail on

but in the end he succeeds.

Karl Begrich, trained as a
filmmaker in Vancouver and
Los Angeles, has sailed the
Pacific for the past 10 years.
He started to combine his
talents as sailor/cinemato-
grapher -in his first
documentary film, the South
Pacific adventure “Escape
Under Sail”, which has
successfully toured major
theatres throughout North
America. ~ __ .

Now, after three years of
production and planning, he
presents, in “Gone Sailing”, .
a true. story with many
memorable sailing scenes —
a pure joy for any sailor's
heart.

The new film will be
shown Saturday, October 3,
at 8 p.m. in North Van
Centennial Theatre, 23rd
and Lonsdale.

The province's first ever
Rivers Day is being held this
Sunday and will become an
annual cvent to be held on
the last Sunday in Scp-
tember.

And on the North Shore a
number of projects will be
underway during the day to
mark the event.
