Blues Rugby team out- hustled Vancouver: Community College Falcons to the tune of | 31-9 in a Totem Athletic Conference league encounter played at the Langara campus on Sunday. The Blucs controlled both the line-outs and the scrums and demonstrated superior speed on the Joose rucks in posting a 17-6 half-time lead on the strength of two trys by Leo Pascuzzi and one by Ian Stewart. Stewart also kicked a convert while Marc Brockington added a penalty goal. In the second half, Bruce Jackson and Graham York scored trys while lan Stewart added his second try _and convert of the game to ‘. yound out the scoring. Despite the victory, the Blues have yet to get their game completely together. Coach Bob Bagshaw praised his forwards for turning in their best performance of the season, but noted that his backs played well below their capabilitics in the gamc against the Falcons. Next weckend the Blues will need it all going for them when they take on the powerful B.C.1L:T. Cougars at B.C.1.T. on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Cariboo College Chiefs from Kamloops. meanwhile, have been finding Capilano College a less than hospitable place to © visit on their recent ex- cursions to the coast. Last weekend the Rugby Blues blitzed the Chiefs, shutting them out in both ends of a double-header. This weckend, it was the Soccer Blues who sent their Cariboo College counter- parts back to the interior city sporting a pair of goose eggs on their end of the scoreboard, and un- doubicdly feeling more than a little shell-shocked. On Saturday the Blues hammered the Chiefs 9-0, then dumped them un- ceremoniously again on Sunday by an 8-0 count. Scoring for the Blues in Saturday's contest was Terry Charles with three goals, SFU attackers in the dark shirts at Kinsmen on Sunday where the two Victor Coblenz and Nigel Williams with two goals each, and Ken Charles and Jamie Ellis with one apiece. On Sunday, Jamie Ellis turned in a four goal per- formance, Terry Charles netted two, and Mark Hustwaite and Nigel Williams netted one cach for Capilano College. Following the two-game set, Cariboo College coach Pat O'Brian said his team is “not that bad a side,” but in his opinion, the Blues are the best college soccer team he has seen in his seven years in the Totem Conference.
