Pacific rail tour stellar by Starlight B.C. Rail’s Pacific Starlight Dinner Train has been racking up the miles (and lamb) this surmmer. This summer two dome cars, six coaches and one Kitchen car have left B.C. Rail’s North Vancouver Pemberton Station at 6:15 pm. every Wednesday through Sunday since June 6. The 400-seatr moveable feast_has proved immensely popular and will continue its four-hour journey along the Pacific Coast unt October 31. The nine restored vintage "40s and °50s cars were pur- chased for about $2.5 million from a Washington State- based train service earlier this year and a new terminal was built ar Porteaun Cove as the trip’s turnaround destination. Each of the dining cars has a name evoking the golden age of jazz: the Indigo, Twilight, Moonglow, Savoy, Stardust, Apollo, Rainbow and Continental. Classy jazz over the train’s sound system adds to the glamorous, romantic atmosphere. Executive chef Brace Knapik has changed the gourmet menu for the fall evenings with roasted B.C. salmon, stuffed breast of guinea fowl, filet of beef ten- derloin and vegetable rotolo offered as choices for entrees. — John Goodman B.C. Rait has just announced plans to add Christmas runs for the dinner train. The Christmas By Starlight speciai trips are scheduled for Dec. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 of this year.
