DAM SZALINSKI is
such a big baby. A
really big baby.

In fact, he’s Adamzaifla, thanks
to the scientific tinkering of his
dad, Wayne (Rick Moranis).

in 1989, he had to apologize to
his wife, Diane (Marcia
Strassman), ‘Um, honey, |
shrunk the kids," after a surpris-
ingly successful experiment. Now
the inventor has stumbled onto
the reverse process. And it’s a
colossal triumph.

One morning, the toddler was a
little bit bigger than his toy bunny.
A few hours tater, both the two-
year-old and Bugs are over 100
feet tall — and growing.

Towering over the glitz of Las
Vegas. Adam has the town at his
feet. And tucked snugly inside his
roomy Osh-Kosh pocket are his
“big” brother, Nick (Robert
Oliveri) and the babysitter, Mandy
(Keri Russell). The car they were in
became a Tonka toy for the little
giant.

It’s up to Mom and Dad to save
the kids, stop Wayne’s nasty col-

league, Dr. Hendrickson (john
Shea) from taking pot shots at their
inflated infant, and avoid changing
Huggies the size of a circus tent.

Twins Daniel and Joshua
Shalikar who play the baby are
genuine charmers.

There's fine acting, especially
from Rick Moranis (who deserves
the fast thinker’s award for his ad-
libs around the spontaneous two-
year-old), some very convincing
special effects, and a sweet nature
that rivals the first cilm.

So, what's next for those wacky
Szalinskis? Disney is looking for
sequel suggestions. Send your
ideas to Michael Eisner, president
of Disney Studios. (But don’t
bother with ‘‘Honey, | Faxed the
Kids,” they've already rejected it.)

How about Honey, | Blew Up
the World.

Stanley Kubrick’s classic black
comedy about nuclear Armaged-
don hasn‘t aged a bit since 1964.
The joke of a fail-safe defence
system or a survivable atomic
holocaust may seem a tad unfun-
ny, but with the talents of George
C. Scott and the brilliant Peter
Sellars (in three roles), hilarity
mushrooms.

Criterion’s disc also features
some “‘survival” films put out by
the U.S. government during the
jittery ‘50s, including the famous
Duck and Cover, complete with
Catchy jingle on what to do when
the blinding flash comes. Here’s a
handy hint — if you’re on a pic-
nic, try covering your head with a
newspaper.

But a rarer and more light-
hearted offering is a mid-’60s
non-hit video, My Teenage Fallout
Queen, sung by a woolly-vested
Sonny Bono look-alike. (“She's
my radiation angel, she’s my
teenage fallout queen.’’)
