27 - Wedreesday, June 20, 1990 - North Shore News Assets broke $300 million GOOD NEWS Mare than 100 people gathered April 25 at the North Shore Winter Club to hear the good news about the milestone year posted at North Shore Credit Union in 1989. Board Chairman Jack Bright presented the report to member- ship. The magic number for 1989 was $300 million. Total assets broke the $300 million level (up from $266.7 to $315.6) while member deposits were up by 17.8 per cent to more than $300 million ($300.1, up from $254.7 million) for the first time in the history of the Credit Union. Retained earnings and reserves increased by 46.9 per cent. Self-directed RRSPs posted an increase of 43.4 per cent, grow- ing $3.7 million to $12.2 million. Loans to membership totalled $233.4 million for the year. Loans for 1989 included $142,152 million for residential mortgages, $68,198 million for commercial loans and $21,492 million for per- sonal loans. Meanwhile, member equity Strengthened with an additional $687,500 for total equity shares of $3.05 million. To capitalize on a strong foun- dation, the Credit Union has committed itself to a market- driven strategy.
