FOR WHAT POSITION ee High/ low impact discussed A FITNESS instructor workshop on the subject of creative high/low impact choreography is being hosted by the North Shore YRICA. The event takes place on Mon- day, eb. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the North Vancouver YMCA, 440 Headry Ave. This workshop will be led by Kelly Henderson, a Levei Il B.C. Recreation and Parks Association registered fitness instructor and fitness coordinator at the West Vancouver YMCA. Henderson says: ‘‘Trends in fitness are changing constantly, the latest preference being high/low impact workouts, a combination of jumping and marching or runn- ing and walking. “The reasoning behind this type of a workout is sound: stress and overuse injuries from constant pounding are reduced, the amount of calories used in a workout are increased, options are provided to those easing into a impact class and variety is added for par- ticipants and instructors.”’ The British Columbia Recre- ation and Parks Association has recognized this YMCA course for instructo:s seeking renewal hours for the Provincial Registration Program. Course fee is $12. For further information or to reserve space call Kelly Henderson at 926-5541. Feb. 23--Deep Cove Garden Club.
