SHORE OLYMPICS THIRTY-FIVE teams are expected to compete in the North Shore regional tournament of the Olym- pics of the Mind Tuesday at West Vancouver Secondary School. The winners will go on to com- pete against other school teams from the Lower Mainland, and if they are victorious, to the interna- tional competitions. Last year two teams from West Vancouver’s Hollyburn Elemen- tary placed in the North American Olympics of the Mind competition, held in Flagstaff, Arizona. One of the teams captured a third place-win in the History, the Way It Was problem-solving game, in which they had to dramatize a historical event. And the second team took fourth place in the Bridging the Gap, a game involving building a two-part structure from balsa wood. The regional competition gets underway March 7 at 9 a.m., with the awards ceremony slated for approximatey 3:30 p.m. There will be a $1 ‘admission charge for adults.
