AS- vee September 1, 1982 - North Shore News Hospital Societ members must cast votes tonight — Dear Editor: A recent article in the Sunday News may lead the reader to believe that the abortion issue will no longer be a factor at tonight's Annual General meeting fo the North and West Van- couver Hospital Society. But, in fact, the con- troversy between the sup- porters of the Pro-Life group and those who support the present. hospital policy, will still be the main reason for a heavy vote at the Annual Meeting. It is imperative that the elected candidates t the wishes of the majority of the citizens of the North Shore and its environs. Those citizens who are sufficiently interested have joined the Hospital Society. Now they must attend the meeting and vote Volunteer helped to motivate residents a wer: ° eyewear Continues for the candidates of their choice if they wish the Board to properly represent their convictions. _ Last year 1000 votes were cast for candidates favouring the hospital policy on abortions and 500 votes cast for the Pro-Life candidates. ‘This year 800 new members have joined the Society, presumably heavily from the well organized Pro-Life group. This would mean almost an automatic win for those who wish to eliminate the abortions performed in Lions Gate Hosptial. The unorganized members who wish the hospital policy to remain unchanged must also attend the Annual Meeting if they do not wish to lose their mandate by apathy and complacency. The Board has done Dear Editor: It is usual at this time to evaluate the volunteer service given by community volunteers and I wish to commend the work of Randi Haagerup. Ms. Haagerup worked at the end of our spring season and became an important part of the activity team effort. Members may then cast their ballots and leave again if they wish.
