RCMP officers were
burglars at a home in

Monday night. In fact,

before the thieves.

Acting on a tip. police
were keeping a watch on the
home at 905 Beaumont. The
occupants were away on
holiday at the ime.

Detectives say the break-
in occurred as a result of
three visits to the house by a
pair of youths.

First, they allege, the
youths broke down a door of
the home and left quickly.

Shortly after, police saw
the two return, each walking
a dog, casually looking
around the area. By this time
officers had already entered
the house and a spokesman
says that one policeman was

lying in wait on the floor
immediately below a window
when one of the suspects
peered through that same
window.

Then, according to the
police, the youths took the
dogs back to the nearby
address, returned and en-
tered the home where they
had broken in the door.

The youths were im-
mediately confronted by
police and arrested. At that
point, the RCMP allege, one
of the suspects tried to over-
power an officer to escape
through the doorway and
was injured in the process,
requiring treatment at Lions

Gate Hospital.

David Parker Chapman.
aged 18, of 934 Meibourne,
and a 16-year-old youth were
both charged with break and
entry with intent, in con-
nection with the incident.
Chapman also faces a charge
of resisting arrest.

Three hours later, shortly
after 1 a.m., officers went to
Brooks Wet Suit Store at 55
Bewicke Avenue and found
a break-in was in progress.

Police say they arrested
one young man in the store
and another outside, hiding
beneath a vehicle.

Charged with break and
entry with intent are Mark
William Richards, aged 17,
of 834 West 17th Street,
North Vancouver, and
Timothy James Goertzen,
22, of 3734 Price Street, in

Burnaby.
