The highest is Bruce McConachy, 18, of West Vancouver, who has a chess rating of 1628 and is ranked 16th. A rating is a numerical measure of how strong a player, the higher the better. McConachy has a good chance to qualify for the B.C. Junior Chess Cham- pionships to be held in October.
