THE NEW 1997 white-page tele phone directories have been showing up on doorsieps all over the North Shore, leaving residents with the aid phone books to dispose of. * Telephone directories, tegardiess of color, can be drop- ped otf in recycling bins located in Safeway parking fots across the North Shore. This includes Someplace Special in Caulfeild Village and Wood- ward's Food Floor in Park Royal North, Telephone books can also be taken to international Paper In- dustries Jocated at Riverside and Spicer. The new phone books will be easier to recycle next year, says B.C. Tel, because their bindings are made with water-soluble glue. Omnimax film opens WHERE WERE you when Mount. St. Helen’s erupted? Probably not as close as you will be when you re-live the event in Ring of Fire, the new Omnimax film being shown at Science World. Ring of Fire (a term used to describe the great circle of volcanoes and seismic activity in the Pacific Rim) features footage of eruptions in Navidad, Chile, Mount Merapi in Indonesia, Sakurajima in Japan and Mount St. Helen’s. Chronicled as well is the San Francisco earthquake of 1990. Daily showtimes are 11 a.m, noon and 1, 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday evening screenings are at 7 and 8 p.m. Blue Planet will continue its run daily at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m. WV Parks | hosting summer concert series THE WEST Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Summer Concerts by the Sea series for its ninth year. The concerts will take place on Sundays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m, at Ambfeside Plaza and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. at Horse- shoe Bay Plaza. This year’s program opens with a performance by the West Van Pops Band on June 27.
