22 - North Shore News — Sunday, May 23, 2600 Court challenge could topple NDP From pane 18 some interesting political theatre. Former finance minister Elizabeth Cull told the court that former premier Glen Clark assured her any budgetary deficit could be made up by raiding the Forest Renewal BC nds. That was a bombshell because these Renewal funds are supposed to be earmarked to heip logging-dependent com- munities. The NDP has promised that this money would never be used for anything other than for what it was ‘intended. It would never, they said, be used as general rev- enue. When Clark took the stand he contradicted Cull’s testi- mony, denying he gave Cull permission to use the Renewal nds If the NDP members are found guilty it could topple the B.C. government and send shock waves across Canada.
