Designer’s ‘fashion advantage’ is nine easy pieces

MISTER LEONARD offers a fresh look at fall clothing,
drawing from a variety of sources that describe a romantic,

nostalgic view of fashion.

One of the country’s most
well-known manufacturers of
competitive fashion sportswear,
Mister Leonard presents an exten-
sive collection for fall '93 which
includes 10 different groupings.

The fashion manufacturer
claims that, with the help of its
diverse coordinates, a
businesswoman only needs ‘nine
easy pieces’ io create enough
looks to. outfit her every work
day. This precise wardrobe, called
Your Fashion Advantage, is made
up of separates from one or sever-
al of the company’s lines.

One group, called Wuthering
Heights, combines Victorian
prints, antique face and fluid
crepe,

Soft ruffled blouses with
brooches, long - pinafores, long
flowing skirts. Jackets and vests
are tailored and get wooden and
faux-peart buttons.

A turn-of-the-century-inspired
floral print is shown in cameo
yellow and black is accented well
by exclusively designed gold,
pearl, crystal and enamel jewelry,

More recent history influences a
grouping styled after silver screen
heroines of the ’40s.

Their glamorous, wartime mili-
tary garb adds a fashionable edge

shirts with embroidered military
medallions, cossack shirts and
wide, fluid trousers pay homage to
those who dramatized the war ef-
fort. .

Shades of Garbo camel,
Dietrich navy and Retro cream are
the backdrop to heraldic-styled
jewelry.

A retro film theme may have
inspired a line which mixes jet
black and scariet red.

The picture-frame print blouses
and wrapped skirts are inspired by
the ’50s, as are short, belted safari
jackets and long trench coats.
Cardigan jackets, fastened with a
single button, are reminiscent of
screen stars, who often wore them
with slim-legged, cuffed pants
that are currently shown,

Satin-ribboned cardigans,
scroll-embroidered vests and ropes
of gold chains and pendants add
luxe to the look.

Going farther back in time, me-
dieval fashions are recalled in a
grouping that mixes Sherwood
green, empire blue, wine, antique
gold and pewter.

satin and silk. Enamel pendants
and scroll-shaped pins add to the
subtle Robin Hood look.

In an Italian Renaissance line,
warm shades of fresco green,
aubergine, rose wine, amberglow
and Baroque tones are used.

Beaded sweaters and rich jac-
quard wraps, soft wool-crepe
shawl-collared jackets, French-
cuffed jewel-neck shirts, paisley
satin blouses, printed vests, and
single-button wrap skirts are
available. They are finished with
filigree earrings and matte gold
crosses hanging from chains.
