One elder, who followed the Squamish canoe in his speedboat us it approached shore, spoke of how the paddlers’ voices, raised high in song, echoed across the waves and into a valley where the old village, now the site of a dam and mill, once stood. His heart swelled with pride as he thought of the ancestors hear- ing once again the beat of drum and the splash of paddle.
