SIX LOCAL theatre companies will vie for entry into Theatre B.C.'s
Provincial Mainstage Festival this summer when the North Shore Zone
Festival of Plays gets under way at Presentation House tomorrow.

The winner of the local competition, held from Apr.23-28, will repre-
sent the North Shore at the provincial finals June 4-9 in Chilliwack.

West Vancouver Little Theatre’s entry What | Did Last Summer kicks
off the festival Monday.

one-act comedy. This year the North Vancouver Community Players will
stage two entries, Fugue For Female Voices and Garage Sale.

First Impressions Theatre's entry is Rites of Spring, a modern tragedy
by playwright Peter O'Rourke. The Howe Sound Drama Club brings
Tennessee Williams’ classic The Glass Menagerie to the stage and the Far
Off Broadway Theatre Company tackles Claptrap.

This year’s adjudicator is University of Victoria professor and theatre
director John Krich.
