The play, although far from perfect, is a _well- meaning enjoyable musical with amusing characters (played by some of Van- couver’s better known theatrical characters), a nice musical score, and brilliant Jesse Award winning costumes by Marti Wright. The musical starts out as the colorful Doorman (Simon Webb) and Opia (Charlene Brandolini) design a game with few rules and lit- tle purpose except to get four characters on a _ magical journey through an en- chanted forest looking for the cure to a_ mysterious malady that has everyone else sleeping. Following the puzzling path are delightful caricatures; Reverend Blinkers (Bernard Cuffling), a dusty, bookbound intellec- tual; fluffy, bubble-headed Feathertoes (Sharron Tim- mins); miserable pessimist Speaking of Reflections ... AN EXHIBITION of watercolours by B.C. artist Colin Righton en- titled Reflections will be held at the Interna- tional Plaza Hotel, for 3 days December 8, 9 and 10. Righton has been painting professionally for 15 years, the past 10 in B.C. and has done so primarily without us- ing the traditional method of dealing through galleries. And unless an artist has already established a big name for himself, no gallery is prepared to guarantee him a living income. But, perhaps most impor- tant, Righton says he enjoys and needs the personal con- tact with those who buy his work. He is responsible for, and involved in every aspect of his artistic life, from conception to sale. The upcoming show will be large and varied, including many approaches to. this demanding medium, from at- mospheric renditions inspired by the west coast landscape to glowing stylized abstracts, all, in his own unique style. During their journey, the four are plagued by strange nightmare-sized creatures, Opia and the Doorman in different disguises, and Opia’s two bumbling, munchkin-like sidekicks delightfully performed by Gina Bastone and David Grove.
