ON MAIDEN TRIP Terry Fox logs first rescue THE POWERFUL new icebreaker, Terry Fox, built by Burrard Yarrows Corporation, North Van- couver, logged its first Arctic rescue on its maiden voyage, this fall. Launched in August at the North Vancouver yards, the Terry Fox broke through ice off Point Franklin, on Alaska’s northwest coast, to reach the US government research ship NOAA Surveyor, with 70 people on board. The rescue came eight days after the Surveyor had radioed that it was trapped in the ice.
