The tentative agreement was made last weck, two days after a newspaper story reported that CEC gave the Burnaby school distnct a $200,000 grant for crossing: guards for a vear. The estimated cost for North Vancouver Dastnet is alveat $75,000. The money will pay for six adult public schoot crossing guards “This shows how much this government is short cnanging the eestem and forcing (school districts to take all these ad hoe solutions. Whittred said the government his reneged on is financial responsibility, forcing school boards to cut back on essential areas such as providing crossing guards. Whittred said she onginally thought the Burnaby school district grant was politically motivated because it was done inn NOP riding, but she has changed her mind because a grant has been extended to North Van District.
