The autumn jury for the Ferry Building Gallery takes place Sunday, Oct. 16 at the West Vancouver Seniors’ Centre. interested candidates should include in their portfolio three finished and framed pieces of artwork (three-dimensional work is welcome ); 26 slides or prints of current work; a written con- cept or proposed theme of exhibition and a resumé. The works must not have been shown in West Vancouver District — at the Silk Purse Arts Centre, Ferry Building Gallery or Memorial Public Library — within the last 12 months. Artists’ submissions can be dropped off at the seniors" centre, 695 21st St., West Vancouver, between 9 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 16 and picked up between 5 and 7 p.m. thai same day. Chorus needs tenors tf YOU are one of thase guys who can hit the highs, the North Shore Chorus needs you. The area’s premier community choir requires tenors to give it the balance it needs for an exciting new season of music. The chorus has about 60 members and performs two concerts a year, as welt as singing at seniors’ centres. Last Christrrias the chorus koested a Christmas fundraiser at Capilano College. It was also invited to sing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum as part of the symphony’s Haliday harmonies event. The ability te read music is an advantage but not a require- ment. In fact, Plunkett’s final moments of pain are so palpable that | won- dered whether some level of that desperation might be revealed ear- lier. tt would be a dangerous way to raise ihe stakes and one elernent that might be missing in this pro- duction is menace. While | would like te speculate iurther on Pinter’s aims in The Lover it is important that ! do not give away the plot progression. Besides, thete are a number of Pinter fans on the North Shore who will have fun debating this one for themselves.
