The following are a few of the many volunteer opportunities available through the North Shore information and Volunteer Centre. GOOD driving skills and a reli- able car are necessary to fill this position. Patient and friendly drivers are wanted to drive seniors to and from monthly mectings of an arthritis society on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Also needed is a dependable person to telephone seniors to re- mind them of the meeting. NEWSLETTER assistant to help resident and activity aide with a quarterly newsletter. Duties in- clude cutting, arranging, pasting and general production of newslet- ter. Experience is not necessary but volunteer should have an interest in the work. Times are twice a week for two to three hours on a quarterly basis. SENSITIVE patient person to help seniors with neurological disabilities change into swimwear for water exercises. Volunteer can also help out in the water with the exercises and have free use of the poo] before and after class. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m, to noon. GOOD listening skills? A tactful person with an interest in working with frail elderly people is wanted to assist physically and mentally handicapped seniors with recre- ation programs such as cards, cribbage, crafts and socializing. Hours ave flexible half day per week, Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. DAY-CARE aide with gentle Fitness instructors trained THE NORTH SHORE YMCA is offering a 15-hour course designed for women and men who have completed @ fitness instructor training course and would like to improve their level of expertise. Video analysis will be used as a teaching tool to allow individuals to look at their presentation style.
