Local seniors learn CP! SENIORS AT the West Vancouver Senior Citizens’ Activity Centre, aware of the danger of heart attacks, are taking cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) seriously. Sessions are being held to demonstrate cardiac massage and manoeuvres to aid choking victims. A course was recently held on March 10 and another will take place Tuesday, March 17. The courses emphasize the risk factors that con- tribute to heart attacks and how to recognize attack symptoms. The CPR program was added at the West Van- couver Senior Citizens’ Activity Centre a year ago, and grants from the New Horizons program have been received. Courses are conducted by qualifed in- structors from the North Shore YMCA. Don Calder, chairman of the CPR training group, insists it is important to keep up training by taking additional courses at least once a year. Further sessions are expected to be scheduled throughout the year. For information call the seniors’ centre at 926-4375.
