A8 - Sunday, May 27, 1984 - North Shore News The new democracy -- Third World style T ISN’T OFTEN I get any pleasure out of anything the destroyers of the country have to say, but the other night a certain perverse pleasure could be drawn from complaints uttered on the CBC by James Fleming, the former minister for multiculturalism. Fleming has always been 110 per cent in favor of mak- ing the white population of Canada take a back seat, and was responsible for setuung up the all-party task force on visible minorities — a com- mittee that was rigged in on behalf of the vismins from the start, as I’ve mentioned before. Imagine my amazement, i mailbox DX Clean up SPCA Dear Editor: 1 have frequently visited both the North Van and West Van SPCAs, sometimes for an hour on the weekend, because [| love animals and like to keep them company for a while. | don’t worry about the animals at the West Van shelter because they are well cared for and stay there until they tind a home, whether it be two days or two years, and they're never destroyed. I've always left the North Van shelter crying, no mat- ter what I’m totally disgusted with the old stalls the dogs put up with. Half of them look sick and the smell is something else. There aren't enouygh cages for the cats and when |! asked the manager why he didn’t have more, he said no, because then there’d be foomany. It would be great to or- ganize a committee to clean up the shelter. That way, when | leave the place at night, my con- science wouldn’t bother me and I’d know the animals would still be there the next day when !'d go to care for them. They're the one thing I truly love and I’m not go- ing to let some uncaring people destroy those helpless animals who have absolutely no say in the matter. T think the whole issue is disgusting and something must be done. (Mrs.) J. Dawson North Vancouver Yes -- nail those drunk drivers! Dear Editor: Regarding Bill Hubbard's, IC B.C. [t seems that he is unhappy about the invasion of party Precincts in Toronto by organized vismindom. It may have dawned on him, you see, that we are now bound for voting by race, something that Collins predicted years ago. The program showed a group of turbans literally jumping for joy over their man winning the nomination in a Toronto riding. Even if he wanted to, however, Flem- ing could not make any critical comment on the race of those packing the meeting. If he did, he would be thrown out of the party, or shot. But this, precisely, 1s what he had to say about what is happen- ing on the ethnic-political front. ‘Tam left with the impres- sion that a lot of people brought in out of the ethnic communities... are people who are kind of herded in and may have been worked into some sort of excitement, and who really don’t know a get this stral ht Doug Collins what it’s all about, and who may just be echoing some of the old country experiences, with someone telling them how to go and how to vote and what to do.”’ Marvellous. And it’s just what Dr. Fiem- ing ordered when he was in the cabinet, although he was too dumb to know it. As the program blandly, even cheerfully explained, three million immigrants have entered Canada in the past 20 years. What it didn’t emphasize was that of those, a huge proportion have come from such culturally and racially alien parts as India, China, the West Indies, and South America. In less than five years, most voters will be ethnics (not all of whom will be from the Third World) but by the turn of the century you won’t know whether you’re living in Canada, India, China or the West Indies. In January, The Toronto Star reported that a thousand blacks a week were flocking into Toronto from Guyana alone, claiming to be ‘‘refugees’’. And not much has been done about it. Packing the nominating meetings is a logical first step in the politics-by-race pro- cess. And the perpetrators Soo tee Senne refill. **Turbans literally jumping for joy” will never be called racist for doing it. That label will be reserved for any foolhardy whites who attempt to do the same thing. Meanwhile, the ethnics will control the im- migration policies, which they do to a great extent already, and will continue to get payoffs of the kind for which the Liberals are in- famous.
