Shore News E:mailbox End tyranny of spelling Dear Editor: Some people have recently expressed dismay that West Vancouver municipal council has chosen to spell Timberfeild, Sprucefeild and other West Vancouver streets containing the word field in a non-traditional way, revers- ing the order of the ‘‘i’’ and the ‘‘e’’ } say congratulations to council members for their courageous and independent stand against the tyranny of hide-bound spelling. It is high time someone revolted against the English diphthong. The wolf has but one predator, man. Bambi is subject to every predator in the jungle. | saw a very pathetic film clip on wolves attacking a small deer (6 mos); it didn’t have a chance — they maimed and then proceeded to taunt their prey, then commenced to feast on still live prey. A mother moose with two calves was pulled down by 15 wolves. It’s not a pretty scene; wolves are vicious killers and do not always kill No ‘demand’ Dear Editor: 1 wish to correct an impres- sion created by a front page article in the Sunday News of February 5 that the West Vancouver Parents’ Associa- tion is ‘‘demanding’’ that principals be removed from the B.C.T.F. After considerable debate, a letter was sent to the Educa- tion Minister requesting that the Minister ‘‘investigate’’ the desirability of removing principals from the B.C TF.” and asking for a response from the Ministry, possibly based on their carhier study of this issue. Our terminology was far from a ‘‘demand” for action and should not have been reported in the same context as the tenor of remarks made at the School Board mecting reported on in that article Barbara Howard President, WV Parents Assc TIME Of Day FREE, Call 24 hours 669-2555 to simpler maens, long overdeu. The Provincial Government doesn’t want the School Board to save money? Right? the School Board doesn’t have the right to make its own decisions about its own schools. Right? Doesn’t the North Van- couver School Board realize that the North Shore In- dependent School represents North Vancouver? After all, 42 of the 600 members are from North Vancouver.
