wanted to contribute. After

carefully testing all the best
recipes, and exhausted from
the pace, she was ready to
write her book. Each page
was hand-written for a
personal and realistic touch.

Soon 500 copies arrived at
Gaye’s home. She was
stricken with temporary
panic, and hoped just to
break even. Copies were
distributed to friends,
church members and kit-
chen specialty stores.

The response’ was

enormous; soon each reprint
order was for 1,000 copies,
and now 5,000 at a time. The
orders pour into her home
from all over the world.
Women in Australia,
England, and coast to coast
in Canada enjoy Just
Muffins.

Gaye was doing what she
enjoys, baking. Her kitchen
is homey and _= spotless.
Cupboards are filled with
over-sized containers with

varieties of flours, dates,
nuts, fruit and other sup-
plies. While she is baking; -
every move is done with ease
and grace, some _ things
measured, others not; it's all
second naturé to Gaye, and
shows that a lot can be done
with something we might
call ordinary.

Gaye plans to compile
another book and hopes it
will be as much fun as Just
Muffins.

interview, Marcus, Gaye's
husband, stood proudly by
his wife. “I found great
support from my husband.”
she said, as she patted him
on the shoulder. I noticed an
unspoken thank-you pass
between them.
