Man jailed
for assauli

A 29-year-old North
Vancouver man was recently
jailed nine months for hit-
ting a man with a piece of
wood at a Lower Lonsdale
construction site on July 30.

Daniel John Kuiper was
found guilty of assault caus-
ing bodily harm of a man at
a 5th Street and
Chesterfield Avenue con-
struction site.

According to the North
Vancouver RCMP, Kuiper
went to the construction
site secking employment. An
argument progressed to a
fist fight and the use of the
piece of wood, said police.

A punjabi interpreter was
required for court proceed-
ings.

Kuiper had previous
assault convictions.

Judge Doug Moss placed
Kuiper on 24 months’ pro-
bation during sentencing
last month in North
Vancouver provincial court.

bylaw after she failed to
keep her golden Lab from
running at large on April
23.

She also was fined $40
for the same bylaw infrac-
tion on Aug. 22, 1995,
$30 for an incident on
June 26, 1995, and $20
for an incident on June 14,
1995.

According to the.bylaw,
a fourth infraction carries a
maximum $500 fine.

recovered

merchandise early Friday
near the Capilano
Suspension Bridge.

Police were called at 3

edly seen breaking into vehi-
cles on Fonteyn Way near
Eldon Road.

An adult male, of no
fixed address, was arrested.

In a nearby vehicle the
police fourrd: two sets of
golf clubs, a cellular phone,
a car CD player, two CD
cases, money, a car radio,
tennis rackets, a stereo hold-
er, three car stereos, a pool
cue, a cordless screwdriver, a
saw, a knife, a camera and a
