Cut-a-thon for the birds -

IF DAD needs a trim, give the
gift of a haircut and make a
donation to the Wild Bird Trust
at the same time by taking him
to a cut-a-thon at Waterfront
Park this Father's Day.

From 10 am. to @ p.m. on
Sunday, June 18, top North Shore
stylists will donate their time at
Return of the Osprey, a fundraiser for
the Wild Bird Trust (WBT).

Haircuts are $10 and proceeds
will be donated to the WBT for use at
the new Wildlife Sanctuary at
Maplewood Flats.

The area, located on the Dollarton
Highway two kilometres east of the
Second Narrows Bridge, is the
largest remaining piece of inter-tidal
wildlife habitat on the North Shore.

The first phase of the trail system,
which will include a 700-metre
wheelchair-accessible loop, has been
started. This will allow viewing of
nesting ospreys and Burrard Injet's
largest. concentration of wintering
waterfowl. ;

The public will also have the
opportunity to see purple martins,
which are now nesting at the site for
the first time on B.C.'s mainland in
22 years.

This event is not just for dads; it is
open to adults and children.
