Royals spike Spartans
for North Shore crown

Shore girls’ volleyball teams
have’ enjoyed successful
seasons in their annual fall
campaign.

. The Handsworth Royals won
the battle of North Shore senior
girls’ volleyball teams last Satur-
day night on their home court.

The Royals defeated the Sen-
tine! Spartans 3-1 (11-15, 15-6,
15-6, -15-7)- in the North Shore
AAA Zone playoff final. The
victory qualifies Handsworth for
‘the B.C. AAA championships in

The Highlanders jumped to an
early 2-0 game lead (15-9, 16-14)
before the Royals stormed back to
win the final three games, 16-14,
15-13, 15-4, Both teams had been
ranked as the top AAA team in’
the province this season.

The Spartans and the
Highlanders still have a chance to
go to the provincials. Both play in
a B.C. Wildcard tournament next
Wednesday, with the winning
team advancing to the provincials
in Surrey the following day.
