for $10,757.30 from the students of Irwin Park Elementary
Schoo! in West Vancouver. Irwin Park has raised the second
highest total to date in the jump rope event which is now in

its 10th year.

NV resident graduates
from California program

A NORTH Vancouver resident
recently graduated from Guide
Dogs for the Blind Inc. in San
Rafeel, California.

Kimberly Kilpatrick was paired
with a black Jabrador retriever
guide dog named Gwenny.

Kilpatrick was part of a class of
17 students from across Canada
and the United States who trained
at the school, which is located 20
miles north of San Francisco.

During the course, guide dogs

and their blind partners learned to
work together as a team. They
practised safe travel techniques on
stairways and elevators, through
crowded sidewalks and across
busy streets.

Kilpatrick said learning safe
travel was important -to her
because she regularly rides the
ferries and public transit in North
Vancouver. She and Gwenny will
be delivering music therapy to
senior citizens.
